Climate & geography of Tajikistan
Tajikistan has a continental climate which means summers are hot and winters are cold. With rising altitude, the temperature cools down, thus in Pamirs, at an altitude of above 4000 meters it is much cooler than in Dushanbe which is located at 700 meters above sea level. Dushanbe in summer is very hot and has temperatures above 40 °C. Outside Dushanbe and its surroundings, from June to mid -September the temperature is very pleasant everywhere. Starting from October it can already snow and some roads can be closed. Tajikistan has also Fedchenko glacier, which is the largest glacier outside poles. The coldest place in Tajikistan is Bulunkul and the record cold temperature was -63° C.
